If not, am I not finding them because they have not been released yet?

Thank you, so much!Laura Bellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10714626503517739312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451889633700974771.post-32399251409932661662010-05-30T13:43:04.345-07:002010-05-30T13:43:04.345-07:00Nice Review Robert,

The samples Derwent sent me just made the craving worse.

I did find a lone tin of 12 at Jerry's to hold me over. The tin of 12 contents: P030 Process Yellow, P100 Spectrum Orange, P130 Cadmium Red, P260 Violet, P340 Cyan,P350 Prussian Blue, P410 Forest Green, P430 Pea Green, P530 Sepia, P580 Yellow Ochre, P710 Carbon Black and P720 Titanium White.

The cadmium red was a little too warm for mixing a violet but they will probably have a good carmine in the larger sets and should mix to a nice violet with the cyan.

Let me know if you hear of a U.S. supplier that has the new version.

TomTom Perryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02089484913732155983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451889633700974771.post-80807061774350239562010-03-19T12:36:03.176-07:002010-03-19T12:36:03.176-07:00Thank you, Charlie! It's great to have a quick and easy way to tell which generation the open stock pencils are at a physical store, or query an online store.

I might try to get some old formula to compare and see how much of a difference there is. Blick still has the white lettering/pink slant generation of them, so if I get them before July I can compare them. That's when Col Art will get them the new formula stock.

The opaque paint look is that they switched to a more environmentally friendly watersoluble paint for the casings, so that makes me feel good about the new formula too.robertsloan2arthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02598847116529877475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8451889633700974771.post-34731192413799302412010-03-19T08:48:39.854-07:002010-03-19T08:48:39.854-07:00Great review, Robert! How to know if the pencils are old or new, look at the blunt end, where the colour of the pencil is indicated in paint:
- really old: straight dip, no extra border, text on pencil in white print, casing looks stained and laquered
- old: slanted dip, with a dusty pink border between coloured end and the red of the casing. Text on pencil in white print. Casing looks stained and laquered.
-new: slanted dip, with a silvery border, text on pencil in silvery print. Casing looks painted red, opaquely.

Short version: slanted dip, silver border and silver print = new.

Amazing what you could do with only 6 colours! Love the dandelions!

CharlieCharliehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15959081624436423995noreply@blogger.com
